Is this not a grotesque image? The soft and squishy twin 'puppets' - communist French President Hollande and globalist Chancellor Merkel - are "leading Europe" in developing "a unified system for the right to asylum." The Right to Asylum?? Who voted on that right?

The Merkel-Hollande press conference took place Monday because the two "leaders" are caught in a total bind due to their professed dogma that Europe is an open, multiculural continent. Well, a lot of folks are taking them up on that this summer. But many EU countries don't want to be open and multicultural. So things are not going too smoothly.

Earlier, Merkel over-reacted to criticism from the left for not dealing forcefully enough against the anti-migrant sentiment in her country.

Carolyn reads Chapter 13, titled "Poland." The German War Crimes Bureau was set up on Sept. 4, 1939 in response to the huge increase of reports of attacks against ethnic Germans, mainly from the former German provinces of Posen and West Prussia.

The first judges arrived as early as Sept. 9 and began taking depositions at Bromberg and Hohelsalza. By the end of October, they had six volumes of documents and commentary, each about 500 pages, organized as follows:

• 1) Polish atrocities in Bromberg, Pless, and Stopnica;
• 2) Polish atrocities against ethnic Germans and POW's in Poznan;
  
• 3-4) Violations of laws of war by the Polish Army; 
• 5) Massacre of ethnic Germans in Lodz;
• 6) Polish murders of ethnic Germans (an addendum).

The Bureau's investigations found no evidence of franc tireur or “fifth column” activities among the ethnic Germans, which is what Polish soldiers and civilians were claiming as excuses to rob and kill them. The chapter ends with de Zayas asserting that German SS and SD were committing what he considered to be war crimes against Polish irregular fighters. 51m

On Monday, over 2000 heroic German souls marched in a PEGIDA-sponsored demonstration against their government's acceptance of asylum-seekers and migrants who are now invading the eastern part of Germany from the Balkans.

• The BBC reported that "In a Dresden suburb, the car of Michael Richter, a councillor who had been helping refugees, was blown up." Kudos to those who are letting the authorities know that they are serious. 

• Last week, a new tent city sprung up suddenly in Dresden's Friedrichstadt district as a temporary refugee center. Fights between refugee-opponents and refugee-supporters have broken out there.
  

• A month ago, on June 28, a brand-new, still uninhabited refugee center in the historic town of Meissen (of porcelain fame), close to Dresden, was set on fire and burned during the night. Investigators say it was started deliberately. "We currently suspect arson," a Police spokeswoman said.

An alert reader, alecti, discovered an aricle in the Berliner Morgenpost dated January 13, 2014 about the Welfenschatz (Guelph Treasure) lawsuit brought by twe Jews, Gerald Stiebel and Alan Philipp, against the German government. The article is titled "Who really owns the Guelf Treasure?"

Translating the article using Google Translate is far from perfect, but does give some clear ideas that I will use in this post. Anyone out there who can provide me with a better translation into English - please feel free to do so!

First, the dispute is officially between two heirs of the original  Jewish art dealers and the SPK, the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation, which oversees the museums in Berlin. The collection of medieval reliquaries, alters, and crucifixes was kept for centuries in Prussia's Brunswick Cathedral. In the 17th century, approximately 80 items were removed from the cathedral by John Frederick, Duke of Brunswick-Luneburg.

80 years ago, in 1935, some Jewish art dealers in Berlin sold a collection of medieval Christian relics, known as the Welfenschatz treasure, to one or more National Socialists “after they were unable to get a better offer.” The collection consists of dozens of gold and bejeweled relics that date to the Holy Roman Empire.

Modern Greece is a fairly new experiment in independence, and as such has never actually functioned totally independently. The world expects too much from Greeks, confusing them with the ancient Athenian democracy that we learn about in school. The Greeks are also confused about this, since they encourage this comparison with those great Greek citizens of old … a comparison they cannot live up to.

First Greece was incorporated into the Roman Empire, followed by the Byzantine, and then for 300 years Greeks were subsumed into the Ottoman Empire ruled by Muslim Turks. Their modern state was formed only in 1830 with the help of the European Powers who helped the Greeks win their war of independence.

Here he is - described by one disappointed critic as a mythical figure from Wagner's operas, “the tiny gnome, the Jewish caricature,” which brought on cries of "anti-Semitic hatred."

The next chief conductor of the Berlin Philharmonic has been chosen: He is Kirill Petrenko, a Jew born and raised until age 18 in Russia! [Strangely, or not, the announcement was made on June 22 (the date of the German invasion of the Soviet Union in 1941).] Isn't it wonderful, and so international as befits an “international city” like Berlin, yes?

The problem for true Berliners, though, is that Petrenko was selected over a Berlin-born German who many expected to get that job: Christian Thielemann, currently chief conductor for the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden and former music director of the Munich (Bavarian) Philharmonic. Thielemann is 56 years old (born April 1, 1959), with a brilliant career in opera, being a regular conductor at Bayreuth and the Salzburg Festivals.

Carolyn reads chapters 5 and 6. Chapter 5, "The Testimony of Witnesses," looks into how credible witness testimony was obtained by the judges. All witnesses took a "real" oath, and the judges sought verification for all testimony, sometimes going to great length to do so.

Chapter 6, "Expert Medical Opinion" explains how medical officers distinguish the nature of wounds, whether from battle or deliberate mutilation, whether inflicted before or after death. The most common mutilations (which occurred daily on the Eastern Front) were the gouging out of eyes and the cutting off of genitals. Severing feet and hands was also carried out by the savage Soviet troops and Jewish partisans. 1hr12m

Carolyn reads chapters 3 and 4. Chapter three is titled "Related German Agencies" and describes the numerous other official agencies with whom the War Crimes Bureau collaborated, and how cooperation was carried out.

Chapter four, "Methods of Obtaining Evidence" tells us how cases were built and gives some vivid examples of mutilations and other outrages committed against German soldiers on the East, West and South Fronts. The bulk of the testimony (approx. 85%) came from ten's of thousands of sworn witnesses giving depositions to military judges or local courts. 1hr11m
