Bradley R. Smith is dead. What a shock. He somehow seemed indestructible, even though he was in frail health for several years. But he always bounced back from crises, returning to "the work", never losing his sharp wit and deep heart. So one got used to feeling he always would.
Bradley passed away on Thursday, Feb. 18, his 86th birthday, according to an announcement sent out by Germar Rudolf who is a volunteer at CODOH, the Committee for Open Debate on the Holocaust.
I knew Bradley well enough to feel shaken by this news, so here I am writing this at one o'clock in the morning. He was never anything but helpful, encouraging and forgiving with me. He was a wonderful writer, a real craftsman, something he did not become known for, instead becoming the face of "holocaust denial." We all owe Bradley a great debt, maybe some of us more than others. I know many eloquent eulogies will be written in his honor.
Godspeed Bradley. Knowing you, you're having a very interesting time following where "Thought" takes you and don't miss us at all.

Great comment, James. Yes, it's a terrific book.
It was sent to me [autographed] by Bradley Smith the first time I subscribed to his newsletter, The Smith Report. I didn't think I had any interest in reading it, but one day I opened it up just to see and from there I couldn't put it down. I loved it! I wrote to Bradley to tell him so, and why, which made him happy and we were friends from there.
As I said in the post, I have a lot of respect for him as a writer.

A great loss. I heard him speak several times and I used to post on CODOH many years ago. He did alot to challenge the idea that Jews own the history of WW2. He's a classic example of one brave, tireless person who emboldened many other people to be brave. Courage is contageous. Our enemies know this and that's why they work so tirelessly to silence lone voices that have the potential to inspire and enlighten many others.

Always liked reading his Smith Report.
As James Beardsley and Carolyn wrote, his book, "Break his Bones" is a great. The best description I've every read of a road to Damascus conversion, from "Holocaust" believer to non-believer.
Should be read by every schoolchild.
