German scientists want to banish the word 'race' on political grounds

Ernst Haeckel was a German giant who died in 1919 in Jena, Weimar Republic; a zoologist, naturalist, philosopher, physician, professor, marine biologist, and artist who named thousands of new species and coined the terms ecology, phylum, phylogeny, and Protista, among others. He promoted and popularized Charles Darwin's work in Germany.

IT'S HAPPENING. Yes, it's going further than you thought it could, sooner than you thought it would. Scientists in Germany have declared that “there is no biological basis for races, and there has never been one. The concept of race is the result of racisim.

Let that sink in.

They urge that the word 'race' no longer be used in science.

At the 112th annual meeting of the German Zoological Society held in Jena in the state of Thuringia, in the 100th anniversary year of the death of the famed zoologist Ernst Haeckel, known as the “German Darwin,” four zoologists presented what's being called “the Jena Declaration.” These four are Martin S. Fischer, Uwe Hossfeld and Johannes Krause of the Friedrich Schiller University Jena, and Stefan Richter from the University of Rostock.

The academic event was titled “Jena, Haeckel, and the question of human races, or how racism creates races.”

Got that? I know it's hard to believe, but they're saying it's racism that created the idea of races to begin with. By Haeckel classifying the human family tree into races, he made a fateful contribution to racism as science. (You did bad, Ernst.) It is not science, these scholars argue, because there is no single gene that underpins 'racial' differences. As I understand it, they are not denying racial differences exist but only that there is a scientific basis for them. That's a head-scratcher.

As the president of Jena University, Walter Rosenthal (pictured left, I think Jewish) says “As academics we can help insure that racism is no longer able to invoke us as a justification.” The author of this news story at Deutsche Welle, Michaela Cavanagh, (or maybe the DW editor) adds this editorial comment:

This research carries added weight in Germany where during the Nazi era, eugenics, a set of beliefs and practices aimed at ostensibly improving the genetic quality of a human population, and racial hygiene, were used extensively in order to further the National Socialist ideological tenet of maintaining a pure master race that was biologically superior to other races

This is a total lie and mischaracterization that is popularly pushed—as is demonstrated in the NS teachings in the Handbook for Schooling the Hitler Youth (and here) that I'm currently featuring on this website, with more coming. The idea of the National Socialists was solely to improve/remove the hereditary harmful mutations in the German “race,” and to prevent the outrageous outlays of money that they cost the nation—not to make it superior to all others (although that fear could have arisen in the minds of other Europeans in whom such self-improvement was not part of their considerations).

Ernst Haeckel

A zoologist and evolutionary biologist, Haeckel classified the human races into a family tree, which has been in use for over a hundred years. It is now some Germans who are putting his work under attack based on left-wing radicalism. The Jena Declaration draws a link between what it calls current forms of racisim and “seemingly scientific disciplines” like racial hygiene or eugenics. It says,

Designating “the Africans” as a supposed threat to Europe, and attributing certain biological characteristics to them, are also in the direct tradition of the worst racism of our past. So, let us ensure that people are never again discriminated against on specious biological grounds.

Specious biological grounds? What is specious about biology? This is political correctness determining what can be expressed as biological science. It is Marxism, Leninism, Stalinism still trying to take over the West.

Beware of that smiling jew.

Biologists in the United States no longer use the word race, but they still use the word subspecies, which means the same.

I don't think that they are going to be able to eliminate the word Rasse from the German language, because it is also used to refer to breeds of dog, as in Frank Rennicke's song Diese Rasse ist Klasse, which pretends to be about Dachshunds.

Yet, Israel demands a DNA verification for citizenship and marriage. Only god's self-chosen are allowed to use "race"?

my racial history is from Nordic German descendants and make no excuse for my family blood line. I do not have any genetic codes which alter my skin from white Caucasian nor skeletal features. The three races are more than skin color. I am a retired pathologist and did hundreds of autopsies on the three main races. Vast and various differences were noted between each and not just skin color. For instance, facial features, bone structures, brain weights, muscle mass, and a myriad of other changes. So quit calling the difference just skin color. Genetic differences do occur between the races and if they didn't, we would all look alike.

That they "urge that the word 'race' no longer be used in science" confirms that race is a scientific concept.
Specifically, a race, in the scientific acceptation of the term, is an interbreeding population genetically separated from, and hence genetically distinct from, other populations of the same species by barriers of geography or other factors such as, among humans, national borders, religion, caste, or social status, etc.

Race is thus a highly flexible term. Australian aborigines are a different race from the Chinese or the French, but it may also be said that the people of Glasgow, at least those of long descent in that city, are of a different race from the people of Edinburgh. Indeed, racial differences are clearly evident in the coloring and facial features of citizens from one part of Britain, or any other country, and another.

So, so, Political Correctness is now part of the scientific method. Strange times we live in.
If race was an incorrect term when applied to humans, then biologists would be submitting thousands of papers offering evidence why that is so. The topic would be resolved in the same manner as any other object of scientific interest.
But "they" can't allow for scientists to exert freedom of thought, so they impose a political ban. Orwellian.
