Minnesota has tons of Lutherans, and after attending a Lutheran Church service, a couple of years ago, I asked the pastor how he feels about Marin Luther's comments regarding jews (see the link above). He explained that Luther was basically ignorant and misguided, and he disagreed with everything which Luther had to say on this subject, so I asked him, in a nice way, "why, then, do you call yourself a "Lutheran"?  He didn't really have a good answer to that question....he just assured me that Lutheranism is, in fact, very jew-friendly (so I shouldn't worry).

This garbage was preached at a Lutheran Church in Minnesota....it's not exactly typical of what you'd hear at a Lutheran Church, but it's sort of revealing.... I would guess that there's more jew-worship in Minnesota, per capita, than in any other state..

I understand why Bunny  has become sickened by Christianity.   There is a very strong and growing sentiment of repulsion towards Christianity among Nationalists.  Not surprising since Christianity  has been preaching the equalitarian Gospel since times immemorial.   In one of his speaches adressing the subject of homosexuality, Himmler observed that 90 to 100% of the catholic clergy were homosexual.   I think Himmler was exagerating a little, but he wasn't far off the target. 

I don't think Hitler was ever serious when professing belief in Christianity throughout his political career. I think he just paid lip service to it for votes because it had to be done. Later on in Table Talk, he speaks of how the Freemason Roosevelt wasn't a real Christian either, so while the church went on to oppose him, I don't think he saw the actions of the US and British as particularly motivated by Christianity. It's worth noting that this subject seems to come up over and over when Himmler's around, so I think it was a favored topic of discussion between them.

The way he says things like "and on the propaganda level [Christianity] continued to be a lie", aside from the level of detail he goes into when describing its pernicious historical role, both here and when he previously said it "extinguished fifteen centuries of civilization in a single stroke", and so on, it hardly seems that he's just reacting to the church's influence causing him headaches at the time. He really had no use for it at all, and couldn't wait to stamp it out of German life permanently; not by persecuting those who wish to believe in it, of course, but by simply allowing reality and free research to expose the falsity of one pillar after another, leaving it to die as one would a troll exposed to light. The Table Talk monologues, Rosenberg's memoirs, his secretary Schroeder's diaries in pre-Table Talk days, Hess's reported conversations with British guards after he was captured, the way the men he saw as Germany's future elite (the SS) were being educated...they all paint the same picture of Hitler having an utterly contemptuous view of Christianity. As someone who wholeheartedly agrees with this, it makes perfect sense to me that such a supremely sensible man as Hitler would see it this way. He has nothing good to say about it at all aside from that it would be a shame to lose all the beautiful cathedrals since absolutely nothing else of worth was created in a span of centuries, which is quite a damning of faint praise in reality, and indicative of how Christianity cares about nothing but itself.

I couldn't find Himmler's original speech, but commentary on whether he used homosexuality or an equivalent of gay, it was said he used homosexuality. 

"Gay" means schwul in German. I read about the etymology. It derives from warm and sticky (atmosphere both between two men and the general atmosphere in gay clubs), schwül with Umlaut describes warm and sticky wheather neutrally. But used in  the homosexual context, it also means deceptive, subjugative, when used as a verb: beschwulen, as explained in the Grimm'sche Dictionary. 

Carolyn often voiced her concern for gays in the movement. The German language supports her intuition. 

btw, Himmler formed the Department against Homosexuality and Abortion. But not because it is "immoral" as Christians claim, but because it is counterproductive to the preservation of the species.

I was listening to Episode 15 (only one so far). I cannot imagine that Hitler would have said these things about Christianity because he would have lost 90% of the German population, a strictly Christian nation. That would have been political suicide. The ones who lost their faith because of WWI were only a small number.  The tone is also dispiseful... not his style. I grew up Catholic and I never lost that reverence for Christianity even during the times when I had left Christianity.

Well done on another great show Carolyn and Ray. I've been out of the loop for a while and I am now desperately trying to catch up on the shows I've missed.

Just a quick comment on Coburg 1923. Whilst there Hitler met with Charles Edward, Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (a grandchild of Queen Victoria) the first German prince to embrace National Socialism. In Europe in the 1920's the aristocracy still wielded a great deal of power and influence so getting him onside would have been a major achievement for the fledgling NSDAP. Charles Edward attained the rank of SA-Obergruppenführer. He also served as a member of the Reichstag representing the Nazi Party from 1937 to 1945 and as president of the German Red Cross from 1933 to 1945. After the war he was imprisoned by the Allies.

Whilst looking up the Coburg incident I came across a website which said the author of I KNEW HITLER: The Lost Testimony by a Survivor from the Night of the Long Knives gives a glowing account of Hitler at the battle of Coburg so I've ordered it from Amazon. I hadn't heard of the book before but it will now join my collection.

Putzi Hanfstaengl also fell out with Hitler but I found his memoirs to be very interesting as someone wanting to learn more about the early days of the NSDAP. In fact Hanfstaengl gets a mention latter in Table Talk with regards to cheese sandwiches of all things.
