On Tuesday, January 17, 2006, Amazon.com announced that it was changing the categorization of a new translation of Elie Wiesel’s Night from novel to memoir.

Amazon would also revise the editorial description of the original edition to make clear that they consider the book a memoir, not a novel. “We hope to make these changes as quickly as possible,” said Jani Strand, a spokeswoman for the online retailer. The day before, Oprah Winfrey had announced that Night was her latest book club choice, displacing her previous selection, James Frey’s A Million Little Pieces.

The sudden switch from fiction to non-fiction caused some discussion and questions, which Strand brushed away by saying,  “Amazon.com’s data source for the Oprah Book Club edition of Night inaccurately classified the book as fiction.” She declined to offer details. The book, re-classified as “Autobiography” and blessed by Oprah, was already No.3 on Amazon.com as of that Tuesday afternoon! Wiesel, interviewed later with his literary agent Georges Borchardt, insisted they had never portrayed it as a novel.

The serious, respectful "Neo-Nazis" (Vid #1) or the loud, brainwashed "Commie-Anarchists" (Vid #2) ? You know, the ones with the pink-and-blue hair and the cool dance moves.

The banners of the "neo-nazis" say "Do not forgive - do not forget"  and "Honor to whom honor is due."

The marchers carrying the torches in the 2nd video are the "right-extremists." The ones running around and partying on the anniversary of the terror-bombing when over 100,000 of their recent ancestors (mostly women, children and infants, and old men) were murdered, are the "anti-fascists."

• Today, political correctness insists it be played down, most especially by the German government;
• While in London, a new large memorial to the British pilots of Bomber Command is reaching completion;
• Tanstaafl’s guide to understanding the Jewish narrative is “What’s good for the Jews.” It’s no more complicated than that.

For a lesson in objectivity, let's compare this photograph of real Hungarians arriving at Auschwitz-Birkenau, and meeting real German officers, guards and kapos ... 

...with this sketch of a similar scene that was presented to the public by the Auschwitz Memorial Museum in Poland in January of this year.

As expected, a judge in a Budapest court on Feb. 6 has rejected a lawsuit brought by Hungarian-born Nikolaus (Miklós) Grüner against Chabad rabbi Slomo Köves for helping to arrange Elie Wiesel’s “Homecoming Tour” to Hungary in 2009. Grüner maintains that Elie Wiesel is not Hungarian  and not a holocaust survivor.
